It is important for companies to gather feedback and interact with their audiences. It is also important that audiences have uses and purposes for these products.

Q8A: Explain 2 ways that social media has been used to advertise a media product or products you have studied. Use examples to support your answer.

The Disney film 'Frozen' was advertised on the social media platform, YouTube. Interestingly, the media company promoted the film by posting teaser clips and trailers to reach their target audiences' interest in the film. Many young kids have YouTube Kids and therefore would be able to easily view and access this promotion, ensuring the film gained awareness. 
Additionally, the Instagram platform was used to share posters and teaser clips of 'Frozen' which reached the target audience as they are likely to use this social media platform often.

PEST + SWOT- analysis

PEST- political factors, economic factors, social factors, technological factors

Political factors.

  • any political events that'll impact your media products. E.g., political campaigns, elections, and some countries banning certain products due to religious or political rulings.

Economic factors.

  • any economic constraints; subscriptions, advertising campaigns, or how much revenue is being earnt.

Social factors.

  • privacy issues, fake news, piracy, interacting with customers and companies.

Technological factors.  

  • advancements in technology, what are the positives and negatives of this for your product? 
  • ability to stream/download.
